Maija Isola’s popular Unikko pattern was created in th e1960’s during the height of modern design, and has since remained an iconic pattern of the time. Delving into oversized deign and deconstructed shapes led Isola to create larger than life patterns, but here, her famous poppy flowers are taken down to a smaller (pieni) scale. Beige and white blossoms with pops of blue are featured on this 100% acylic-coated cotton fabric for fashion or home décor crafting.

Durable and beautiful!

I was suspect whether spills would wipe off the acrylic coating as well as PVC coating- and so far they do! Plus, it looks and feels nicer on my table than plastic. Very satisfies!

Love love love This table cloth. Wish I had this when my kids were small. Again such practical Finnish thing. Just wipe clean and you are good. Cheers up the kitchen and now I want more colors. Well worth the money.

Beautiful and fun

I've always associated Unikko patterns with favorite cartoons from my childhood even though they didn't quite appear in them. Charlie Brown comes to mind and some of the brilliant work by Chuck Jones does too. The large repeat pattern was at first a little disturbing but when I set it up for what I want to do with it, it actually looks even better than I expected. The light blue is not as prominent in person as it seems in the photos but that is just fine too.
Pros
  • Fun and lovely pattern.
Cons
  • Blue is quite light.

Can this fabric be washed in a washing machine without the acrylic coating getting damaged?
1 Answer
This is machine washable. But do not spin dry. Do not soak.

Try not to wash it too frequently, as you may lose the brightness of the colors. The reverse side may be ironed as needed.

Are these flowers smaller than those in the red/ white unikko pvc and is this coating as strong for a table cloth?
1 Answer
These flowers are the medium size indicated by "Pieni" - they are 5.75 inches - 9.75 inch flowers. This Acryilic fabric is replacing Marimekko's PVC fabrics and is usable in same manner (ie tablecloths). It is more flexible than PVC but is strong and durable.
